A touch of history…
Diamonds weren’t always the default for engagement jewelry. With that in mind, I designed this ring to showcase a different stone that holds a different spot in jewelry history.
Popular in Victorian jewelry, the Blue Zircon is much softer than a diamond, but the bright blue color is unmatched by almost every other stone.
In order to highlight the remarkable color, I built a ring that was specifically designed for this stone. The yellow in the gold offsets the blue, making it appear even more vivid. The blue in the zircon highlights the blue streaks in the opal sitting next to it. And the entire ring has a sparkle provided by the white sapphires sitting along the shoulders.
Jewelry is all about harmony of materials. In this case that means metal and stones working together.
This ring is an original design bought by someone after seeing the rendering. Fabricated in 14k yellow gold with small sterling silver beads, the stones used are a 1ct blue zircon, a 3mm opal and four 1.5mm white sapphires.
