Hope’s New Ring

Hope was fortunate enough to be in possession of her grandmother’s 14k gold and diamond engagement ring. When she knew it was going to be her time to wear it, Hope decided that she wanted to hold on to the special sentiment of her ring, but she also knew that it simply wasn’t her style. Instead of cashing in on the monetary value, Hope chose to use the gold and diamond to build something that suited her. We spent some time working out a design, then cut out the diamond and melted the gold. What came out of the process was a more modern ring that spoke specifically to Hope but still held the tactile memory of her dear grandmother.

We started with a vintage engraved 14k gold band and a diamond a little over 1/2 a carat.

The melt down…

Once we removed the diamond, we melted down the bulk of Hope’s grandmother’s ring. What we were left with was this small golden nugget. This could become the heavy wall bezel at the center of the ring.

The details..

The stone and mounting are sourced from the original ring.

The band is sterling silver with a decorative, nature inspired, stamped pattern and 1.5mm white sapphires set flush with the surface of the metal.
